Lord, Bring On the Laughter and the Tears

What makes you laugh and cry?

For me, it’s looking through my photos and seeing recent memories with my family. Times that only happen once or two a year these days. If only we could have more time together. . .But that isn’t always possible living a couple states apart.

(a special gift for me from my mom)

(A giggly, wiggly frog. Turn it on for sounds and action. Mom remembered I used to collect frogs many years ago. haha)

(a first… an impromptu daddy/daughter dance. Yes, I felt the sting of sweet tears.)

Memories are precious, aren’t they?

Silly Saturdays: Take 5

Here’s something I thought was cute and silly. For some reason, Teddy liked the pile of Hannah’s school stuff that was carried in from the car.

After a brief inspection and some sniffing, Teddy tests out his comfort level.

Not too hard, not too soft.

Just right.

See, messes aren’t that bad, are they?

It’s another silly Saturday. Are we having fun yet?

If not, here’s another video from my son’s Youtube channel, JStuStudios. Justin is in the red shorts.

I hope you laugh. :-)

Silly Saturdays: Take Two

One question: Who buys these things?

Introducing–Ugli Fruit.

These look silly to me..

(On a serious note, do you think God might have a message for us through ugli fruit? Hmm.)

Silly Saturdays – Take One

For 2012, I’m going to be silly on Saturdays. I’m calling these posts: Silly Saturdays. :)

While I absolutely love to write devotions and talk about all things GOD, I also love to laugh and have fun. I even give a talk about laughter because I believe in it so much. Laughing is a good, God thing. Right?

For Silly Saturdays I have no idea what I will come up with yet. It may be a photo, video or even a vlog. It may be one of my son’s goofy videos. But I feel it is time to let my creative, playful self out.

Ready for a smile?

This is my dad and my son. :) Aren’t they the coolest Grandpa and Grandson Santa on the planet? I think so. These Santas were dressed and ready to hand out candy canes and entertain people. They also had another clear mission:

Convince people in the Walmart parking lot that my brother’s puppies were the cutest, softest, most loveable, best pups around.

And guess who they convinced?

Us.

Here’s our new baby, Teddy. :) He’s half Golden Retriever, half Yellow Lab.

Fuzzy wuzzy, isn’t he?

(I may change this into a “Silly Saturday meme.” Let me know if you’d be game and we can link up soon.)

JStustudios Viral “Falling Is the New Cone-ing” Video

A sidestep from my normal devotional posts—

Stopping in to share my son’s viral prank video. Today Justin’s falling video hit over one million views. (screenshot below)

This trend has caught on all over the world. Justin has a falling community and there are videos of people falling in public everywhere. China. Australia. Germany. Belgium. In schools. You name it, crazy pranksters are having fun. So far no one has been hurt that we know of. Falling is funny. The Three Stooges fell and we laughed at them.

This just proves people need a good, clean laugh.

Justin has been a clown since he was born. He does great impersonations, has hilarious  improv skills and gestures. He plans to attend the Colorado Film School next fall. Currently he is going to community college for some core classes.

Please PRAY for Justin’s journey and for God to always guide his steps. Justin dreams of continuing to make people laugh through family-friendly humor. Acting. Filming. Ect.

Go, Justin!! I love you, son. :) You make me laugh.

(For the record: Justin and his friends ALWAYS pick up their public messes. And they ask all fellow fallers to do the same. Falling is risky business. Please fall responsibly and try not to get hurt.)

As Justin’s mom, I support his love of laughter. And as a speaker, I speak on the topic of laughter. I highly believe in the healing power of laughter. Here’s why.  ( screenshot of a comment about Justin’s video)

Capturing Women of Faith

Here are some pics from the recent Denver Women of Faith event. I was blessed to get two free tickets from BookSneeze, in exchange, I was asked to share about the weekend.

Our worship time was amazing.

Gotta love Mandisa! Happy for her success – over 100 pound weight loss.

Women of Faith praise team.

Andy Andrews, telling us truths that are good for the soul. He is a man of much energy. :) Try taking his picture…Ha

Drama by Katharine Everett

Talking on friendships, Lisa Whelchel. I related to her story because I am still learning how to be a friend (in my 40s).

The witty and fun, Patsy Clairmont. What she said really spoke to my heart, especially her sentence,

“Change can be good.”

Best selling author, Karen Kingsbury. Love her heart and books, when I read fiction (a rare occasion)

The powerful and beautiful voice of Sandi Patty

Loved the soul music from Amy Grant. What a gift!

Hmm, me…trying to pose as a Nuggets basketball player. Not working. I did make a few strangers laugh though.

My sweet friend, Kelly going for the goal. Score!!

I didn’t get pics of every speaker from the weekend, but not on purpose. We were sitting up in the 3rd section almost to the ceiling. And I was trying to shoot with my handy point and shoot camera withOUT a flash. Some pics just didn’t turn out because I couldn’t hold still long enough. Blur. Noise.

As far as my thoughts on the weekend, I would say Women of Faith is definitely a fun and inspirational time. Women of Faith does a great job bringing in talented musicians and speakers. I appreciated their testimonies.

I felt like the speakers’ talks run together after a while :) even though they were all unique messages and great story tellers. Women of Faith packs a lot into two full days. Maybe too much to take in all at once? Or maybe it was just me.

Lunch both days was included. My opinion of the food: fair at best.

I would prefer less book and product commercials.

I did appreciate the World Vision sponsorship video and the personal stories that were shared.

Honestly I was hoping for more of God’s Word and more depth. See what happens when we go places with hidden expectations? What I realized is I prefer retreats better than conferences because I like to go deeper into the Word on a topic or theme. I also like more down time to rest, reflect and get to know other women.

Overall, I had a good time. It was a blessing to be able to get away with a friend for a night and two days.

But would I pay $99 to go again next year?

Probably not.

Remember I like retreats better. :)

Women of Faith Denver 2011

Excited for the Women of Faith conference. It starts Friday morning and goes through Saturday. Gotta pack my overnight bag soon.

I’d appreciate your prayers for this weekend’s event, for the speakers, worship artists, staff, the volunteer team, and for all who attend. May we raise the roof with praise! We are expecting God to show us more of His glory.  I’m in  need of a time away with God and a good girlfriend.

I will post some live tweets on my Twitter from the event. :) And of course, I will take pictures and post on Monday or Tuesday. Not sure if I will travel with my fancy camera. It’s too heavy. I may stick with my handy point and shoot.

Peace, friends.

Youth Matter Today

My son being hit with a water balloon. :)

He just got a cold water bottle dumped on him by surprise. LOL

My daughter and my niece.

Love these girls..

A random little girl I couldn’t help but take a pic. She’s too cute!

**********

I love the heart of a child. I love teenagers. I love twenty-somethings. How ’bout you?

Young is good, don’t you think?

I pray I will always be young at heart as I continue to age. Many of my pictures these days include the playful, free spirit of young people. Gotta love them. I don’t think they get the credit they deserve. They are vital in our world. We need them. Their voices matter today!

(Here’s a verse to encourage you if YOU are young. Just so you know I value you in my life. I need your perspective. I need your energy and adventure, and I need to hear your dreams.

And if you are a mom or dad, remind your kids of this verse today. Empower them to use what they have in their generation. They have what it takes to move mountains! )

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young,

but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
