Capturing Women of Faith

Women of Faith Denver 2011

Here are some pics from the recent Denver Women of Faith event. I was blessed to get two free tickets from BookSneeze, in exchange, I was asked to share about the weekend.

Our worship time was amazing.

Gotta love Mandisa! Happy for her success – over 100 pound weight loss.

Women of Faith praise team.

Andy Andrews, telling us truths that are good for the soul. He is a man of much energy. :) Try taking his picture…Ha

Drama by Katharine Everett

Talking on friendships, Lisa Whelchel. I related to her story because I am still learning how to be a friend (in my 40s).

The witty and fun, Patsy Clairmont. What she said really spoke to my heart, especially her sentence,

“Change can be good.”

Best selling author, Karen Kingsbury. Love her heart and books, when I read fiction (a rare occasion)

The powerful and beautiful voice of Sandi Patty

Loved the soul music from Amy Grant. What a gift!

Hmm, me…trying to pose as a Nuggets basketball player. Not working. I did make a few strangers laugh though.

My sweet friend, Kelly going for the goal. Score!!

I didn’t get pics of every speaker from the weekend, but not on purpose. We were sitting up in the 3rd section almost to the ceiling. And I was trying to shoot with my handy point and shoot camera withOUT a flash. Some pics just didn’t turn out because I couldn’t hold still long enough. Blur. Noise.

As far as my thoughts on the weekend, I would say Women of Faith is definitely a fun and inspirational time. Women of Faith does a great job bringing in talented musicians and speakers. I appreciated their testimonies.

I felt like the speakers’ talks run together after a while :) even though they were all unique messages and great story tellers. Women of Faith packs a lot into two full days. Maybe too much to take in all at once? Or maybe it was just me.

Lunch both days was included. My opinion of the food: fair at best.

I would prefer less book and product commercials.

I did appreciate the World Vision sponsorship video and the personal stories that were shared.

Honestly I was hoping for more of God’s Word and more depth. See what happens when we go places with hidden expectations? What I realized is I prefer retreats better than conferences because I like to go deeper into the Word on a topic or theme. I also like more down time to rest, reflect and get to know other women.

Overall, I had a good time. It was a blessing to be able to get away with a friend for a night and two days.

But would I pay $99 to go again next year?

Probably not.

Remember I like retreats better. :)

Women of Faith Denver 2011

Excited for the Women of Faith conference. It starts Friday morning and goes through Saturday. Gotta pack my overnight bag soon.

I’d appreciate your prayers for this weekend’s event, for the speakers, worship artists, staff, the volunteer team, and for all who attend. May we raise the roof with praise! We are expecting God to show us more of His glory.  I’m in  need of a time away with God and a good girlfriend.

I will post some live tweets on my Twitter from the event. :) And of course, I will take pictures and post on Monday or Tuesday. Not sure if I will travel with my fancy camera. It’s too heavy. I may stick with my handy point and shoot.

Peace, friends.

Youth Matter Today

My son being hit with a water balloon. :)

He just got a cold water bottle dumped on him by surprise. LOL

My daughter and my niece.

Love these girls..

A random little girl I couldn’t help but take a pic. She’s too cute!

I love the heart of a child. I love teenagers. I love twenty-somethings. How ’bout you?

Young is good, don’t you think?

I pray I will always be young at heart as I continue to age. Many of my pictures these days include the playful, free spirit of young people. Gotta love them. I don’t think they get the credit they deserve. They are vital in our world. We need them. Their voices matter today!

(Here’s a verse to encourage you if YOU are young. Just so you know I value you in my life. I need your perspective. I need your energy and adventure, and I need to hear your dreams.

And if you are a mom or dad, remind your kids of this verse today. Empower them to use what they have in their generation. They have what it takes to move mountains! )

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young,

but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Only My Son

Rabbit trail warning:

This is not my typical post, but I must share my son’s creative and crazy spirit. He will attend the Colorado Film School next fall. :) Can you tell? He loves to make people laugh and this video beats them all for me.

ONLY MY SON would post a video on caging.

Does he know I lived most of my life in an invisible cage? BOUND…

Haha.

Like mother, like son.

An apple doesn’t fall far from a tree!

Thanks for stopping in today!

PS I am a FREE BIRD! No longer bound by cages. :) I am free!

Girls Getaway Cruise 2012

Well, hello friends. It’s time to share my excitement!

I’ve been selected as one of ten bloggers for the 2012 Girls Get-A-Away Cruise scheduled for January 12th- 16th, 2012. Mark this date down as a possible time for you and your girlfriends, including me, Lord willing, to set sail and have some God-sized fun!

I’ve never been on a cruise before, but cruising is on my bucket list. :)

I’ll be sharing more as time gets closer about who will be there speaking and entertaining us. Along with promoting contests. And let’s not forget there’s a 2011 cruise coming up first. Anyone?

For now, let’s get excited!

(pic: my girl showing me how to use 3 hula hoops. For the record, (I can’t hula hoop. here’s a video of me trying) But my mom, Hannah’s grandma, can (see Grandma video for laughs.)

Funny Video from My Girl- Or Sweet Depending on Your Perspective

After yesterday’s vulnerable post about healing from sexual abuse, I thought I would shift gears and share a moment that still blesses my mommy heart.

This is my girl Hannah when she was about four. As you know she’s 13 now. Recently we re-watched old videos. Oh how I miss these days. But I am loving our current days together.(And yes, she’s cool with me sharing this..)

1. Listen to Hannah’s cute English sounding accent.

2. Listen to the funny phrase she says about God. About 1 min. 15 secs in. WHAT DID SHE SAY GOD DOES? LOL

She still makes me SMILE!

Time to Lighten Up and Laugh

I’m sharing solo this week on Our Hiding Place (online radio) while Barbara is busy preparing for her move. So I’ve decided to share about a topic that is huge to me.

Laughter!

I’m sillier than most of you might think. How come you don’t know? Because I can’t seem to write funny. That’s a rare talent in my eyes.

This week’s show is “Lighten Up and Laugh.” I thought I’d share this video to prepare your heart. And be forewarned, I’m not saying I’m funny. Because I’m not in my opinion. But I love to laugh. I find time to laugh. It’s a priority. On the show, I’ll share more about why I value laughter so much. I’ll even bring God into the picture. :)

Hope you’ll join me at 10am MST on Blog Talk Radio with Christian Women Affiliates.

For Laughs: Grandma Hula Hooping

(A CHANGE OF PACE TODAY FROM MY USUAL POSTS)

This video was recorded during our Spring break in Arizona while visiting my parents.

My mom bravely took her turn at trying to hula hoop at a park in Prescott after Hannah(my girl) did a fabulous job. My mom wowed us all with her creative rendition of hula hooping to Pants on the Ground(a silly song from American Idol for those of you who are wondering). :)

She is a cool grandma. She made my kids laugh. Me too. Little did she know I was recording her with my camera and that my dad would upload this to Youtube on Easter Sunday.

Hope you enjoy the laugh today. Feel free to share this video. My dad wants lots of views. :) My mom is trying to think of a way to get him back.

For those of you who missed my hula hoop vide from last year, HERE I AM. Not so talented! LOL CLICK HERE.

(Also, please pray for my loved one today who has a court hearing this morning.)
