This post is both another one of my Stop, Look and Listens–and a longer Word filled Wednesday.
Last week as I watched my son Justin play football, these two precious children caught my eye. This girl especially captured me. So cute holding a teddy bear close to her heart. Don’t you love her pink, fuzzy hoodie and hair flower?
Actually I don’t know who these kids are, but I’m hoping to meet the family at another game and give them this picture. All I know is they were standing in front of me on our side of the field.
The funny thing about these two kids is they were looking the opposite way of the action. They weren’t even watching the game. What captured their attention instead? Our spirit team(cheerleaders).
I found myself thinking: I want to be focused on my Spirit team(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Hearing God’s song of cheer just like this boy and girl. No matter what is going on around me, I want to listen to God’s cheer. No matter if I fumble or make a great play, I want to hear Him sing over me.
Do you believe God’s songs over you are for you?
God is on your side. He is your greatest cheerleader. He knows your talent. And He’s designed you to defeat your opponents in His strength. No matter what the score is, no matter how many times you fall short, God believes and supports you.
God is standing on your side, holding you close to His heart like this girl with her teddy bear. Like the spirit team, God Himself is cheering you on today.
I hear His sweet song of cheer, don’t you?
Let’s turn on gaze and our attention to Him right now. He’s got something to say.
He’s bringing great cheer!
Thank you, Jesus, for the picture you showed me as I tried to watch football. Like these kids, I wasn’t paying attention to the plays either. You had something to say. I’m so thankful I was looking and listening. Thank you for again revealing Yourself to me in my everyday life.
Minister to every heart that stops by my blog today. Remind them Your Spirit is singing over them, cheering them on every day. And in the end, we know who holds the victory when all of life’s games are over.
You!
With that reassurance, we get back up when we get hit, walk with our teammates to the field, and take our playing positions. All because You, Lord God, are on our side. Cheering for us.
Amen
