Thankful today for:
FREEDOM.
Today is September 11th and I am reminded of those who lost their lives seven years ago when the terrorists struck. I am prayerful and sober as I remember the price they paid.
Freedom is something America is rooted in. Freedom of speech. Freedom of religion. We sing songs about the land of the free and the home of the brave. Because of freedom, I can walk into a grocery store and pick what I feel like eating or drinking. I can carry a Bible in public, choose my spouse, or attend college. Another free choice I have is where I want to live or how many kids to have.
You get the picture I’m sure.
But there is a greater freedom to me than living in America. This freedom involves:
A desperate prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Perfect obedience to His Father.
False accusation.
Beating.
Mocking.
Spitting.
A long, brutal walk uphill carrying a wooden cross.
Nails.
Wine vinegar.
Words like, “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23: 34.
Death along with two criminals as people watched.
A sacrifice for all sins.
Linen burial cloth and a tomb.
Three days later, new life–a resurrection!
A perfect life in place of my imperfect one all because of LOVE.
There’s nothing more precious to me than knowing Christ loved me and you that much. Jesus willing walked the worst road, paid the ultimate price to set us free and bring us into relationship with Him.
Forever grateful!
Aren’t you?
